Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD Review

The Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD is a high end in dash multimedia audio video receiver. It was first shown at the 2009 CES show in Las Vegas. The head unit features a 5.8" TFT LCD widescreen display with touch capabilities. It features a simple touch screen interface design and touch-slide controls for easy to navigate on screen menus. iPod devices can be plugged directly into the AVH-P3100DVD using an optional cable (CD-IU50V) which can be purchased separately.

The device supports several of the most popular audio formats including MP3, WMA, and iTunes format AAC files as well asDivX video formats. The AVH-P3100DVD display screen can also be fully customized with five different display colors and 112 key panel illuminations; not to mention users can choose personal photos to use as a wallpaper or a photo slideshow.

An available Bluetooth adapter (CD-BTB200) allows the device to communicate with other Bluetooth enabled devices; including hands free communication via a cell phone and your automotive stereo system. Pioneer’s Supertuner IIID technology ensures crystal clear sound whether the signal is analog or digital and produces less distortion and background noise. The Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD is a great choice for those looking for a full feature double din head unit.

Alabama Soundfest and State Finals

 The local retailers along with MECA have teamed up with a few manufacturers to bring Alabama's State Finals to a new level. The show is always a good one, but this year it will be at the North Alabama Fairgrounds in Muscle Shoals. Wild Bill's in Boaz, Audio X in Florence, and Sound on Wheels in Huntsville have teamed up make this one of the biggest events in Alabama. There will be a huge car audio sale with several manufacturers on hand during the show. Incriminator Audio, Memphis, Kenwood, Rockford, and Orion, just to name a few. Batcap will also make an appearance with the famous "Batcap Girls". The shops have promised lots of demo vehicles including Steve Cook's Avalanche. For those who don't care about car audio, there will be a Show and Shine event to show off some nice custom, and classic cars, and trucks. If you ever wondered what your system could hit on the SPL meter, you can get your vehicle tested for $5 on the MECA certified meter. The usual SQ, and SPL classes will be available for competitors, along with the SQ2 2 seat class, and the Show and Shine class. Even if you don't compete, there will be plenty of things to see and do. If you have been in the market for some new audio equipment, this is your chance to catch a lot of different manufacturers in one place, and get a demo of the equipment you are looking for.

I watch the stage in anticipation as I relax back into my seat; I was told this is going to be a great show. Within seconds I hear it, the beat of the Roland Drum Machine and as if by magic the band is now on stage. Daryl Stuermer’s fingers battle the guitar. Hearing his fingers slide across the fret board causing the strings to pierce the air with their scream makes me sit up a little more and stare at the stage intently. I can hear when he changes notes, not the sound of the note; I hear his finger’s jumping from string to string. Cue the vocals and Phil Collins steps onto stage and my private concert begins.
The song? “In the Air Tonight” from the 1981 album “Face Value”.

DEEP SOUTH NATIONALS JOINS FORCES WITH CAN (CAR AUDIO NATIONALS)

Deep South Nationals and Car Audio Nationals will be joining forces for the show on June 20th, and 21st.

Deep South Nationals is proud to announce that Ben Vollmer and his Car Audio Nationals (CAN) series will make a stop at DSN 2009!!! This will mark the second year DSN and CAN have teamed up at the June show held in Biloxi, MS.
CAN will be sponsoring the 1 seat class at DSN and will give away $500 in CASH to the winner!!!
To enter the CAN event there is NO entry fee… all you need to do is Join the MotorMusicMag car club! Not only can you be part of one of the most elite car clubs, you also have a chance to win prizes. Join and we'll put your car to the vote.
There are two categories with three sections each. Enter your daily driver, mildly modified car or extreme custom vehicle. Or if you're an installer, enter a vehicle that you've built for a customer. If you and your vehicle are selected, you will be given your own area within our car club section of the website. There you can tell other members and our readers about the custom work you've done and what projects you plan on doing next. Voting will take place through the summer until the SEMA Show, when we'll announce the winner.

Audio X Sound Challenge

For those that missed Steve Cook’s show last year, here’s your chance.

For those that did attend last year, you don’t want to miss the show this year.

It's worth the visit just to see the shop. Steve's showroom and install bay are among the best I've ever seen. Audio X can handle anything from an entry level system to a full custom built show car and has brands to fit any budget.

Last year we watched Steve blow his windshield on the van, and Tommy “King of Bass” McKinney demo his truck with “In the air tonight” at volume levels I’ve never experienced before.
