Italian Reliability. Microsoft Stability. (7/12/2007)
I know people probably snickered a little when this was announced, but it got me thinking: What if you could combine the reliability of an Italian car, with the stability of a Microsoft operating system? Well, don't laugh, because Fiat will be shipping a car this year with technology developed with the guys from Microsoft. In itself, the partnership is nothing new, because Microsoft does OEM work for a number of manufacturers—but the new Blue&Me system has some pretty cool features. You can slip your media player into a USB port, plug your mobile phone into the onboard Bluetooth system, and control them both with buttons on the steering wheel or voice commands. Blue&Me also does navigation, and it even has the ability to read out text messages. No news yet on whether you'll be able to operate the car by talking into a watch Knight Rider style—but we can hope. Story from engadet and image from Slashgear.
