Kenwood MPH Digital TV is LIVE! (Almost)
Not too long ago, we told you about Kenwood and Harris's partnership to bring the next generation of over-the-air TV into the car, and at CES we had a chance to actually check it out! Kenwood had a prototype box on display, streaming TV into one of the new 08 double-DIN radios. Now this is purely on the "experimental side" of things, and the actual technology for this next generation of TV has yet to be finalized. A local TV station set up a transmitter for the show, and I have to say, compared to all the TV tuners I've seen in cars over the years, MPH blows them away. Now it's nowhere near DVD quality, but it is really really clean over-the-air TV, good for up to 130mph. Overall I was pretty impressed and I look forward to keeping up with this development.
We've got a few more pics available after the jump.

The show display.
Nothing like watching a little trash TV while rolling 130MPH!
Check out how small the antenna is. You'll need to blow up the photo, but the antenna is embedded in the clear plastic sitting in front of the small shelf speaker. All it is is two really fine wires-- very similar to the radio antennas embedded in the rear glass of some cars.
