Audiophile Trend: Video Cables for Audio?
It not a secret that a better quality cable can provide better and cleaner audio signal down the line. Things like lower resistance cables, better shielding, and thicker gauge wire do make a difference. Whether or not one guy can hear it over the next is subjective, but technically it should make a difference, especially since a car is such a noisy environment.
One trick used by home audio guys is using video RCA cables rather than audio RCA cables to transfer the audio signal. Video cables are built around a 75-ohm impedance rating, which means the signal encounters much lower resistance than a standard audio cable. The guys over at CEPro list out seven reasons why the audio-geek may consider this for their next install. The arguments are pretty fair too, but I think I'll just stick with my 400 Series Monster Cable for now.
