Scooped! New Focal Amplifier Line Is "Solid"

Orca Design, Focal, Solid 3, Solid 1, Solid 2, Solid 4, Utopia, Audiophile

I've been a Focal nut since I got into this industry years and years ago. When I worked for Custom Sounds, it was my go-to brand every time. True, it's more expensive than most lines, but you really cannot beat the sound quality - you really do get what you pay for. I'm the kind of guy that swaps systems out almost every six months, but my Focal Polykevlars stayed in my car for almost 3 years, as did my 5WS 5" subwoofers. So needless to say, when information about their all-new amplifier line fell in my lap I was elated! Dubbed the Solid series, three models are available - a two-channel, four-channel and mono-subwoofer. The amplifiers will be available in a Black or Red Wrinkle finish, and will start shipping the first of April. We've got a ton of details, pricing, and pictures available after the jump.

The amps sport a relatively small footprint and very rugged design. An aluminum heatsink surrounds three sides of the amplifier, and a smoked plexi cover offers easy access to the sound shaping controls. A removable panel hides all the connections, allowing for a stealthy, clean install. The amps also feature high-level speaker inputs for easy integration to factory audio systems, or and low-level balanced RCA inputs for aftermarket integration. The Solid 4 and Solid 1 also include a handy remote sub control module and variable adjustable high-pass and low-pass crossovers and subsonic filter. The Solid 2 features full adjustable high and low-pass crossovers only.
