Wrap Up: Audio X Nationals

When I think of Alabama, I think of DreamLand BBQ, the Mercedes Benz Factory, and the lousy road layout in Mobile (along with a TON of Redneck Jokes…). This past weekend Terry Floyd invited me out to judge at the Audio X Nationals in Florence, Alabama. Steve Cook, owner of Audio X, is well known for his SPL Vehicles and had Tommy "King of Bass" Mckinney on hand as well with his Bass Boxing truck. There was also a parking lot full of local and regional SPL competitors for both the dB Drag and IASCA portions of the show.

But seeing how Sound Quality is what I thrive on, my task for the weekend was to judge SQ vehicles, and man were there some nice ones. My favorite of the weekend was Audio X's demo vehicle that Steve keeps in the the shop. He designed it to be a loud demo vehicle, but also managed to tune it for Sound Quality. Steve hosted a BBQ at the shop on Saturday night and let the SQ guys tune the truck (and their own vehicles) until about 3 am before kicking them out. And when it came time to demo the truck, the hard work from the night before was very apparent....
