Add a Touch of Class for Your iPhone 3G

The new iPhone 3G stepped away from the iPod's traditional aluminum back in favor for a white or black plastic rear. However, for those who appreciate the metallic look, check out these unique (and pretty pimp) InCase Metallic Slider Cases as an option.  Available in gold, silver, gunmetal, or copper, the cases offer scratch and impact protection for your precious gadget.

Did You Get Your iPhone Yet?

By: Brian Murphy, SoundDomain Moderator

Starting Sunday September 7th the G3 iPhone is available for purchase at Best Buy. You no longer have to go to the AT&T or Apple store. Over 900 locations are selling the G3 iPhones nation wide.

Why is it important that Best Buy is now selling the iPhone?
1. Shorter lines
2. Easier access to the iPhone with more locations then the Apple store.
3. Now consumers can decide where they want to go to buy, accessorize and service their new phone.

"With the addition of Apple's iPhone 3G, Best Buy Mobile offers one of the best and most complete arrays of wireless carriers and handsets available from one retailer," Best Buy said in a statement. "Best Buy Mobile offers consumers wireless plans from as many as nine carriers and up to 95 devices."

Now you can get your iPhone with a new hair dryer, HDTV, Blue Ray DVD player, Xbox and a vacuum cleaner. Take that Apple store.

TomTom Develops "Real" Nav Software for iPhone

TomTom iPhone

The guys over at BoingBoing stumbled on a brief article on Reuters that stated portable navigation manufacturer, TomTom, has developed it's own navigation application for the new 3G iPhone. In case you haven't kept up with all teh 3G iPhone news, the current iPhone does not offer true naviagtion capabilities becuase it lacks a GPS chip. It has a mapping application via Google Maps, but the phone estaimtes your location based on cellphone tower triangulation. The 3G iPhone will have a GPS chip and therefore will offer an improved GPS function, but it lacks the true portable nav experience because it still won't provide real turn-by-turn guidance.

TomTom already offers navigation software for PDAs and mobile smart phones, so the iPhone was a natural step for them. The TomTom nav would function much like it does for their portable devices, and would included turn-by-turn guidance. However, this goes against the Apple iPhone SDK agreement:

Satellite Radio for the iPhone

XM Radio, Sirius Radio, iPhone, Satellite Radio

Most of you that read the blog know that I'm a fan of satellite radio. I actually subscribe to both Sirius and XM, although Sirius is what you'll find me listening to most often. Ever since I got my iPhone, I've wanted a way to listen to the service on my phone. I always have it with me, but I don't always have my Stiletto2 or inno. I thought maybe I'd be able to use the online listening platform to stream Sirius to my phone, but Apple decided not to give the current iPhone Java support, so that's a no-go. However, all is not lost. XM is currently working on an iPhone application to allow online streaming, and there's a application under development for Sirius that will allow streaming for Jailbroken iPhones (not an official Sirius application).
