iClooly Adds an Upright Twist to Your Touch

iClooly iPod Touch cradle, Aluminum, Black Resin

The multi-versatility of the new iPod Touch makes it a pretty unique multimedia player to have in your collection of gadgets. Probably the most awe-inspiring feature for most users is how the screen readjusts when swiveled 90-degrees, making it much better for watching video than standard iPods, and makes surfing the net a much more enjoyable experience (It's like it was made for Craigslist!).

We've seen a few iPod cradles and adapters come out recently that take advantage of the rotating screen technology, but none have done it with the class of iClooly. The iClooly is a simple, but well designed, iPod Touch cradle that gives your touch an almost a miniature modern iMac appearance. The cradle is made from aluminum and resin (plastic), and shoudl be available soon from GeekStuff4U.

Get Your Squirt On: miShare

MiShare, Squirt, iPod, MP3

OK, I admit it, the Zune is pretty cool. The first generation was far from sexy, but the second gen was definitely a step in the right direction. I was surprised how easy the OS was to operate, and the actual interface had a pretty cool look. The Zune could also do a few things the iPod couldn't, such as the "Social" (file sharing). A few aftermarket solutions have come out over the last few years that allow file sharing between iPod, and one of the latest is the miShare. One thing to note: it does not currently work with the iPhone or iPod Touch, although miShare is working on a downloadable fix.
The miShare connects two iPods together via the dock connector, and allows file transfer of music files, pictures, videos, playlists, and photo albums. The miShare can even transfer DRM-encrypted files, but in order to listen to them they'll have to be unlocked by the original owner once you connect your iPod to iTunes. The transfer speed is somewhat slow. miShare claims 1MB/second, but actual tests have shown 500kb/s which means your average length song would take about 10 seconds to squirt. Not too bad.

iPod Car Dock for the Hopelessly Cheap

Instructables, iPod, Car Mount, Car Kit, DIY

I don't think there's any portable device out there that has as many accessories than the iPod family. Every manufacturer and their mother has some sort of audio cable, adapter, dock, case, or doo-dad (that's tech speak for thingamabob) for this trend-setting, industry-changing, wallet-draining gadget. But even with the huge selection out there, sometimes it's hard to find the perfect solution. So if you can't quite find what you're looking for, or if you just can't scrape up the cheddar, why not make it yourself?

That's just what Bernat over at Instructables set out to do. Not able to find a car dock that fit his need, and using the mostly only the contents that came with his iPhone, this creative pioneer built the most inexpensive iPhone/iTouch car dock ever. Hope over to Instructables for the complete step by step!

Thanks for the tip Ari!

Product Test Drive: Griffin RoadTrip

Griffin, iPod, iPhone, Nano, Video, iPod Dock, iPod charger, iPod accessory, iPod fm transmitter, iPod wireless, iPod 12V, Road Trip, RoadTrip

We recently received a box of Griffin iPod accessories in the mail to test out and give you guys our opinion. Griffin is kind of new to me, and my first experience with their products was at CES this year. My initial impression from CES was that they had simple and clean designs, and looked to have a relatively high build quality. Griffin's product offering is quite large, so we thought we'd start out with the most common iPod devices for the car: the charger and the wireless FM transmitter.

Our first test drive is the Griffin RoadTrip, a slick-looking iPod charger and wireless FM transmitter combo. This little guy features a very bright white display, simple design, fully adjustable gooseneck and swivel display, and an audio/video output jack. The RoadTrip is compatible with the iPod Classic (80GB/160GB), Touch, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th generation iPod.

I was fairy impressed with the functionality and simplicity, and the swireless transmitter's sound quality was pretty strong and clear. Check out the full review after the break for detailed product photos, installed photos in a couple different cars, and our thoughts on the functionality and features.
