Zune Fans Rejoice! Another Zune Gadget Is Coming!

Zune, iHome ZN9B, clcok radio

Sometimes it seems that if you're a portable MP3 player, and your name does not include 'iPod" or Apple somehwere in teh name, there's not much hope for a large selection of cool accessories. However, MIcrosoft's Zune is actually starting to build up an accessory following. Kicker announced their Zune boombox earlier this year and now iHome has announced a new Zune clock radio/docking station!

It's not a bad looking unit. Pretty plane Jane on the design-side, but isn't that the Zune way? The Zn9 comes in at a mere $99 and has all the features you'd expect from an alarm clock. :) Here are some details:

"Meet the new ZN9, the world’s first clock radio for Zune. The ZN9 features several innovative solutions, including wake and sleep to your Zune™ music or AM/FM radio presets, a 7-5-2 feature for separate weekday and weekend alarm times, and an extra large, backlit LCD display with dimmer.

  • With its Reson8 speaker chambers, you’ll be able to enjoy stereo sound around the clock. The new ZN9… treat yourself and your Zune right.
  • Wake or sleep to Zune, AM/FM Radio or buzzer
  • High-fidelity stereo drivers in specially designed Reson8® speaker chambers deliver astounding clarity, depth, and power
  • Gradual Wake and Gradual Sleep increase/decrease Alarm/Sleep volume so as not to startle the user
  • Clean contemporary design complements the look of the Zune
  • Dual alarm with AM/FM presets
  • 7-5-2 feature for separate weekday and weekend alarm times"

Free Stuff: New MP3s Courtesy of Jensen

Jensen, Free MP3s, car audio, music, mobile electronics

Every few weeks I hop over to Jensen's website to check out their collection of MP3s. I'm one of the rare people in this world that have yet to hop on the BitTorrent bandwagon, and I actually pay for my MP3s (Thanks, iTunes). So whenever there's a chance to (legally) get free MP3s, I hop on it. Jensen offers 16 totally free MP3's for your listening pleasure, as well as free bass tones should you want to test the limits of your low frequency transducers.

I'm an electronic music and hip-hop fan, so most of the stuff I liked on their site fell in these genres. I dug Element's "Chucks," this track offers a smooth West Coast laid-back hip hop style. It actually reminded me a bit of the Northwest sounds. Plastic Little's "I'm Not a Thug" is a pretty cool track. Reminds me of a mash-up of Gorillaz with a mix of Fat Boy Slim on a hip-hop tip. Most of the tracks were cool and I look forward to trying them out in my car.

Hop on over to Jensen's website and check out the selection for yourself. And even if you don't like what you hear, quit bitchin', they're free!

Product Test Drive: Griffin RoadTrip

Griffin, iPod, iPhone, Nano, Video, iPod Dock, iPod charger, iPod accessory, iPod fm transmitter, iPod wireless, iPod 12V, Road Trip, RoadTrip

We recently received a box of Griffin iPod accessories in the mail to test out and give you guys our opinion. Griffin is kind of new to me, and my first experience with their products was at CES this year. My initial impression from CES was that they had simple and clean designs, and looked to have a relatively high build quality. Griffin's product offering is quite large, so we thought we'd start out with the most common iPod devices for the car: the charger and the wireless FM transmitter.

Our first test drive is the Griffin RoadTrip, a slick-looking iPod charger and wireless FM transmitter combo. This little guy features a very bright white display, simple design, fully adjustable gooseneck and swivel display, and an audio/video output jack. The RoadTrip is compatible with the iPod Classic (80GB/160GB), Touch, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th generation iPod.

I was fairy impressed with the functionality and simplicity, and the swireless transmitter's sound quality was pretty strong and clear. Check out the full review after the break for detailed product photos, installed photos in a couple different cars, and our thoughts on the functionality and features.

Video: Scosche iPod Adapter for OE Toyota Tundra Radio

If you want to add iPod functionality to your Tundra's factory radio, Scosche's AXIPTA is an easy-to-use, great sounding solution. According to Scosche:
"The AXIPTA will work with all 2005-up Toyota, Lexus and Scion vehicles. Offering an auxiliary interface, the unit creates an auxiliary input on a factory stereo for an iPod player and integrates full iPod controls at the factory radio. These step-by-step instructions demonstrate functionality and product use."

Jensen Hooks you Up with Free Tunes!

Jensen, Free MP3s, car audio, music, mobile electronics

Looking for some new tunes to freshen up your stale collection? Jensen has updated their site with a slew of new MP3s, and they're all still FREE. And that's my favorite kind. They've thrown up a pretty good mix this time; a little bit of something for everybody. I dug the 9th Wonder track, and Arsun F!st's flow on "Hungry" made for a nice chill hip hop track. DJ DJ Wallas & The Flamemakers "Elektrofunk" had some nice beefy beats and a hint of the typical "club anthem" sound thrown in. But System 7's "I Move"  was probably my favorite of the electronic offering. Secret and Whisper's "XOXOXO" kind of reminded me a bit of early Jane's Addiction, good stuff. Hop on over to Jensen's website and check out the selection for yourself. And even if you don't like what you hear, quit bitchin', they're free!
