I was over at Sound Sensations today to grab James Stanton and drag him to lunch. (Oh yeah, and check on the Acura too!) While walking through the normal installation bays, Jeff pointed out to me a new contraption that Pioneer just sent their dealers. At first, I thought it was some of the installers having fun. It looked like a sub mounted to a cardboard box. And then when you tapped the box, it was solid. Then Jeff pointed out the FM Modulator on the back of the bottom box.
Pioneer designed this to give consumers a test drive of some bass in their ride. You put a CD into the CD Player in the unit and tune the customers radio and then hook up the sub. The sub is sized just under a cubic foot. Was one of the slickest things I have seen in a while to demo to customers.

I last saw this car at Tuner Evolution in York, Pa this spring. It was fresh from it's Pioneer Build Off debut, where Sean got to witness it first hand. The installation on this 300c was stellar. The team over at Installations Unlimited did the install for a customer, who is an automotive broker. You can see more about it in their video from the Build Off after the jump.

Sport Chassis of Clinton, OK brought one the largest demo cars for the event, an Freightliner! When I spoke with Sport Chassis at the show, they said the system you see in this install will be available from Sport Chassis as an package for your cross-country hauler! The install was extrememly clean, and probably one of the best sounding systems you'll hear in an industrial-sized truck. No panel was left unturned in this job. Check out the custom (and very comfy!) interior, and the killer center console and door panels in the pics after the jump. In the video, Johnny Red of Sport Chassis explains provides insight into the overall install and their goals for the show.

There were a lot of cool installs at the Build-off, but the system in Competition Sound's Dodge Ram was sick, especially because it was built in just two weeks! I was a huge fan of the black and tan leather accents added to the interior, but the star of the install was the massive center console. The LED-illuminated custom console started in the front cab and extended into the back cab and up to the ceiling, essentially a huge amp rack and sub box combo. The front doors were given a taste of the custom treatment, adding a 6.5" and 5.25" woofer into custom brown leather door pods, and dual tweeters in a custom brown leather trim panel to match. Check out the video of Competition Sound's Sean Veit explaining the goals of their build and our small gallery of this incredible build after the jump.

Some of you might be aware that I'm a VW nut. It started early on in life for me.... My father owned a few Beetles and Buses when we were younger and I've had a Golf GTI, a Cabriolet (quit laughing), and now my 03 GTI. So was happy to see Extreme Car Audio's 07 Rabbit at the Pioneer Build-Off. The install was simple and clean. According to Dan Liksi of Extreme, the point of the build was to keep it subtle and relatively factory-looking. The team built custom door's to house a pair of midbass drivers and a tweeter, and added a second pair of tweeters in the center of the dash, firing off the glass. The trunk features two 4-channel amps driving the components and a single class-D mono amp for the pair of 12's. Follow the jump to get the low-down from Dan and to check out our gallery of this wascally Wabbit.
