Polk Audio's New Sirius Home Tuner: SR-H1000

Since most of us are pretty much car guys, we're fine popping our portable Sirius or XM tuners into a cradle whenever we use them in our homes. But some prefer a slightly higher-end option, one that better matches their home audio or theater equipment. The new SR-H1000 is a top-of-the-line Sirius solution and offers quite a bit more for the home enthusiast than a docked Sirius portable can. The SR-H1000 can feed all of the Sirius meta-data (text info for channel, artist, song title, etc) onto the user's TV screen. The unit also features an optical output, which maintains the pure digital Sirius sound quality. True geeks can also add an additional SCH-1 Sirius Connect home tuner and turn the SR-H1000 into a dual zone tuner, sending separate Sirius signals into more than one room. The sleek and simple design should add a sense of style to any home entertainment system. The unit is shipping now and has an MSRP of $349.99.

Good-Bye Polk Momo, H-E-L-L-O Polk MM!

At CES, Polk had a new series of speakers on display designed to replace the outgoing Polk MOMO series (no 4x10 though this time, sorry old school Chevy guys). The new MM Series will sit just below the SR series in the Polk product hierarchy, and will offer great sound quality at a higher-end-but-affordable price point. These speakers should prove to be pretty popular with those concerned with adding weight to the rides and those with rear clearance and space issues in doors. 

The MM series features a very shallow carbon composite basket design. The slim figure is further enhanced on the separates and coaxials by a small but powerful neodymium magnet, coming in at 2 inches shallower than the MOMO series! The MM midbass drivers on both the coax and components also feature a glass fiber cone that Polk claims offers improved sonic properties over last years MOMO already great sounding line. The tweeter will be of the silk-type, but no details were yet available.
