Tomorrow Tech: Opel's Sign-Reading Eye Camera System

Starting next year, Opal and Vauxhall will introduce a new technology on their cars, the Eye Camera System,  an intellignent safety system that can actually read speed signs, no passing signs, and can tell you when you're moving out of your lane. The system will display the actual speed limit in the vehicle's gauge cluster, and if a temporary limit was placed on speed (say, in a construction zone), the system will notify you when the temporary limit has been lifted. The Eye Camera System also has a Lane Departure Warning System that will audibly and visually warn you when you start drifting into a different lane (this can be turned off). Video: Ian "The Iceman" Pinder Hair Trick Demo

Our buddy Adam Raynard of the UK car audio site Talk Audio covered the Modified Nationals 2008 show across the pond and had a chance to shoot video of some girls getting a demo of Ian's crazy Vauxhall Astra van we showed you a few weeks ago  (you know, the one with six 15" HCCAs, 20 HCCA amps, 48 woofers, 48 tweeters....). According to Adam:

"Ian spent a large portion of his day allowing girls to experience the hair trick and we videoed a few. I reckon they are intense as any I’ve seen anywhere else. Check out me saying “No REALLY Put Your Fingers In Your Ears Girls!” and they do – a split instant before all hell breaks loose and their hair goes out two feet sideways and all over!"
